Vast Resources updated the market on progress at its Baita Plai polymetallic mine in Romania on Monday, announcing the hire of Adrian Badita as general manager at the mine, reporting to chief operating officer Craig Harvey.

The AIM-traded firm said Badita would be responsible for the overall management of Baita Plai, including ensuring the safety and health of the team at the mine, as well as implementing and monitoring its development plan to ensure Baita Plai becomes an “efficient and profitable” producing mining operation.

He would begin his role on 18 May.

“Adrian, an Australian and Romanian national, is a qualified competent person under the JORC Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve code,” the board said in its statement.

“He has over 20 years’ mining experience including progressive supervisory experience in all phases of the mining industry.

“He has solid production experience including drill and blast, haulage, waste management, risk management strategy and environmental site rehabilitation.”

Vast said Badita has supervised several large-scale operations, including a $1.5bn operation producing 100 million tonnes per year.

At 1553 BST, shares in Vast Resources were up 4.77% at 0.16p.
