AIM-listed resources company, Thor Mining announced on Wednesday it had identified several copper bearing chalcopyrite intervals at its Pilot Mountain tungsten project located in Nevada.

Several scheelite, or tungsten trioxide, mineralised intervals were found with the aid of blue fluorescence and ultra violet lighting, including a 15m interval at a depth of 198m.

Executive chairman of Thor, Mick Billing, said that the project had produced "very encouraging looking core samples from Desert Scheelite, and hopefully the assays, expected in several weeks, will confirm this," he followed on by saying, "Desert Scheelite continues to shape as a very exciting deposit, amongst the suite of deposits at Pilot Mountain with extremely promising growth potential."

Challenges had been posed by volcanic conditions below the surface in the north of the region, however, the company opted to move its drill rig to the Good hope site in the south of the deposit where a more malleable quartz monzonite could be found.

Thor said final assay data and follow up laboratory reports would be issued in the near future.

As of 0900 BST, shares had jumped up 3.33% to 0.930p.
