Rambler Metals and Mining announced the appointment of Scott Britton as its new general manager at the Ming Copper-Gold Mine in Baie Verte, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada on Wednesday.

The AIM-traded firm said Britton is a registered professional mining engineer with more than 35 years of experience in leading and safely managing underground and surface mining and milling operations.

It said he has worked in mining operations across North America, with a focus on copper, zinc, uranium and coal.

Britton reportedly has “extensive experience” in both technical and operating roles, being the author of two books on mining, as well as having presented and published more than 50 technical papers.

“I believe the Ming Copper-Gold Mine project represents one of the largest opportunities in Atlantic Canada and is poised to take advantage of the growing copper and gold markets,” commented Scott Britton on his appointment.

“The Rambler organization is a dynamic and lean mining team focused on increasing stakeholder value.

“I am excited to be working with them to build Rambler into a premier junior mining company over the short term.”

The appointment came after the company’s previous general manager, Robert McGuire, provided his notice to retire earlier in the year.

McGuire had been with the company since 2012, supporting the operations through to commercial production.

Rambler’s board said he was “instrumental” in navigating the firm through a “challenging” commodity price cycle, and more recently overseeing the first year of its Phase II expansion to 1,250 mtpd.

“I am very pleased to welcome Scott Britton to the Rambler team,” said Rambler’s president and CEO Norman Williams.

“His knowledge will be invaluable as we finalize our Phase II - 1,250 mtpd expansion.

“Scott is a mining professional who brings with him over 35 years of successful hands-on experience working in a variety of mining operations across North America.”

Williams said Britton had been successful in safely managing both large and small-scale mining projects with “highly specialised” skills in management of capital, community, social and business responsibilities associated with an operating mine.

He added that the addition of Britton would further strengthen the Rambler team, and provide focus to effectively complete its expansion plans.

“On behalf of the board of directors we would like to welcome Scott to Rambler and wish him every success in his new role.

“The board would also like to thank the outgoing general manager, Mr McGuire, for his years of service and dedication to the Ming Mine project.”
