Software developer of advanced security and surveillance systems Petards Group was on Monday awarded with a £2.8m contract to supply Bombardier Transportation with its eyeTrain systems.

The AIM traded company said the contract will see its eyeTrain systems fitted to five and ten car Bombardier Aventra Electrical multiple unit trains to be built by Bombardier for supply to the South Western Railway network.

Engineering activities for the project will commence immediately, with equipment deliveries startin in September and the project’s completion slated for 2020.

Raschid Abdullah, chairman of Petards, said: "We are delighted that Petards' eyeTrain CCTV systems continue to be the system of choice for fitment to Bombardier's Aventra trains. This new order adds to our already significant installed base and strengthens our position as the leader of on train video and data solutions."

Abdullah added that the order has bolstered the company’s order book for delivery in 2018 through to 2020.

As of 1548 BST, Petards Group’s shares were up 2.20% at 23.20p.
