Security systems provider Newmark Security said on Wednesday that demand for hygiene screens had grown as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, but cautioned that the overall impact of the outbreak still remained to be seen.

Newmark broadly traded in line with expectations throughout the second half of the year ended 30 April, but noted that sales had started to decelerated from April onwards and now anticipates that full-year revenues will be slightly lower year-on-year.

The AIM-listed group highlighted that the impact was more pronounced in the UK than in the US.

Newmark also said Grosvenor and Safetell both responded quickly to support critical infrastructure and other related industries following coronavirus-related lockdowns across the globe, with Safetell, in particular, posting a hike in orders from retailers for perspex screens.

However, although the group's divisions continued to operate, Newmark warned that it was "not possible" to know what the impact of Covid-19 would be on trading for the current year at this stage.

As of 1110 BST, Newmark shares had dropped 9.57% to 1.04p.
