Lighthouse Group on Wednesday agreed the renewal of its contract with the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL), as the preferred provider of expert financial advice to the association's members.

The AIM-listed financial advisory firm will provide advice on subjects including retirement planning, mortgages and investments, to the group’s membership of 19,000 education professionals for a further three years from 1 September 2018.

Chief executive Malcolm Streatfield said: "The board is delighted that we have secured this contract renewal with ASCL, which highlights further the quality of service and financial planning support which Lighthouse provides for all participating members in our affinity relationships. We very much look forward to building on our relationship with ASCL over the years ahead."

Lighthouse’s list of affinity partners currently includes employee organisations such as UNISON, BA Clubs, Royal College of Nursing and Prospect.

Steve Kind, director of finance and operations of ASCL, said: "It is important to us to continue to partner with an organisation which is clearly capable of supporting our members no matter where they may reside and also capable of dealing with the sometimes complex and very specific needs of our membership."

At 1500 BST, the shares were down 1.32% at 37.50p.
