Haydale upbeat on fabric mask development project

Advanced materials company Haydale announced on Friday that IRPC had completed the development project with the firm, and started production of its new washable functionalised graphene-enhanced fabric mask.

The AIM-traded company said IRPC had now placed a follow-on order for 200 kilograms of Haydale's bespoke ink, with further orders anticipated.

It said the face masks were currently being produced for use internally within the IRPC group, with a forecast external order book for 2021.

The design specification was planned to be reviewed in 2021, when the masks would undergo assessment for additional fabric properties, such as virus filtration efficiency (VFE), UV protection and EMC protection.

“We are pleased to see the washable functionalised graphene-enhanced fabric masks enter production,” said chief executive officer Keith Broadbent.

“With the growth we have seen in the personal protective equipment market, we foresee a great potential in this area.”

At 1330 GMT, shares in Haydale Graphene Industries were down 2.27% at 4.3p.
