AIM-listed digital radio company Frontier Smart Technologies Group has launched its smallest ever module for DAB radios called Siena.

The Siena module, which measures just 21mm x 21mm, is a low power, cost-optimised solution for entry-level price point DAB+ radios and high end consumer audio devices which offer DAB radio as a function.

Siena, which went into mass production at the end of February, is based on Frontier's new Kino 4-Lite silicon and when using surface mount technology, it can be fixed directly to a DAB radio system board without a connector.

Chief executive Anthony Sethill said: "As international demand for DAB radio accelerates and the first countries start to switch-off FM signals, it is essential that we provide a solution to serve the fast-growing entry level price point segment of the market.

“Siena, with its smaller footprint, reduced power consumption and lower cost, will address this segment and help drive growth in Frontier's volumes."
