Pharmaceutical industry services provider Ergomed named Richard Barfield to take over from chief financial officer Stuart Jackson on Tuesday.

Barfield, who joins Ergomed from Chiltern International, will replace Jackson as he returns to the energy sector, effective immediately.

Ergomed's new CFO has more than 25 years' experience in the role across the healthcare, technology and business services sectors in US and UK-listed businesses. His expertise includes turnarounds, fundraisings, acquisitions and disposals.

The AIM-listed outfit expects Barfield will be appointed following the conclusion of its AGM on 18 June.

Chairman Dr Miroslav Reljanović said: "Richard has an exceptional track record as a CFO and played a pivotal role in the growth of Chiltern, a leading international mid-tier CRO, and in its successful acquisition by Covance which generated significant returns for shareholders.

"His previous public market experience as a CFO, CEO and on multiple Boards will add considerable strength to our company as we deliver on Ergomed's growth strategy."

As of 0905 BST, Ergomed shares had inched back 0.33% to 238.20p.
