Gasification technology group Eqtec tapped Jeff Vander Linden to take over as chief operating officer on Tuesday, with immediate effect.

Vander Linden, who has been with the AIM-listed firm in a consulting capacity since July, will focus on establishing project execution and business management disciplines, growing Eqtec's partner ecosystem and strengthening its operational platform to scale its business through 2021 and beyond.

Prior to joining Eqtec, Vander Linden was the global director of strategy and demand for global business services at AB InBev.

Chief executive David Palumbo said: "It is hugely satisfying to have Jeff appointed to the Board to do what I believe he does best: design a 'future proof', resilient and dynamic organisation for scale.

"I am happy to report that Jeff's involvement with Eqtec is significantly accelerating this transition as we position Eqtec to lead the growing gasification industry with the successful execution of projects and business plans, which, I am confident, will, in turn, deliver further shareholder value."

As of 0925 GMT, Eqtec shares were down 1.85% at 0.82p.
