Miner DiamondCorp has been struck by yet another incident at its Lace mine in South Africa, which was shut down by authorities after a fire broke out on a dump truck.

Thursday's incident comes on top of drilling difficulties in recent weeks from fallen pieces of kimberlite blocking the main site.

Underground operations were temporarily shut down by the South African department of mineral resources (DMR) though the fire was extinguished without any injuries.

Underground mining operations are expected to be suspended for at least one week.

As previously reported, the firm requires around £500,000 in order to continue trading as a going concern. However the firm was unable to give any assurances that this will be obtained.

The share price fell 46.17% to 1.55p at 1410 BST on Thursday.
