Corero Network Security announced a $0.6m order for its 100Gbps ‘SmartWall’ threat defense system technology with an unnamed global cloud security company on Tuesday, as well as a $0.4m expansion order for its 10Gbps SmartWall technology from an existing customer.

The AIM-traded firm said the $0.6m new customer order consisted of multiple SmartWall 100Gbps products with supporting ‘SecureWatch’ services for one year.

It followed a successful proof-of-concept trial, which reportedly recognised SmartWall as the technology best placed to protect the customer's cloud security offer following its move to 100Gbps internet connectivity in its data centres - a move necessitated by its business needs.

The $0.4m existing customer order, which included multiple SmartWall products with supporting SecureWatch services for three years, formed part of that customer's ongoing global deployment of SmartWall, Corero explained.

Further orders were anticipated from both customers in the final quarter of 2018, as part of their ongoing expansion and SmartWall deployment plans.

“To have secured another new customer for our 100Gbps SmartWall technology following a rigorous selection process is particularly pleasing and highlights the key competitive advantages and uniqueness of our solution,” said Corero president and executive vice-president of sales and marketing Andrew Lloyd.

“We look forward to expanding our relationship with this customer as they deploy additional 100Gbps connectivity, which we expect will require additional SmartWall purchases.

“We anticipate demand for our technology to accelerate as we benefit from the combination of growth in adoption of faster 100Gbps links coupled with increasing end-user service-level expectations, resulting in the requirement for service providers, cloud providers and enterprises to instigate a DDoS protection upgrade.”
