Video game developer and publisher Codemasters has decided to move the previously-announced release date of the ‘GRID’ title, it announced on Wednesday, in order to take advantage of a “more favourable” launch window during the peak release season.

The AIM-traded firm said it also wanted the launch to be closer to the November release of Google's cloud gaming service Stadia, which would feature GRID as a launch title.

Its announcement on 22 May stated an original release date of 13 September.

On Wednesday, Codemasters said GRID would now be released on 11 October, with the ‘Ultimate Edition’ to be available three days earlier on 8 October.

The company said its expectations for GRID, and its contribution to the current financial year, remained unchanged.

“GRID recently won ‘Best Racing Game’ at E3 from Game Informer and DualShockers, and was a ‘Best Racing Game’ finalist in the official Game Critics Awards,” Codemasters noted in its statement.

“GRID will feature former F1 and current Le Mans World Endurance champion Fernando Alonso, who has signed as both race consultant and appears in-game.”
