Communications group Cloudcall launched its services in Australia on Wednesday, opening a regional sales office in Sydney as a launchpad for its eventual expansion into the wider Asia Pacific region.

Cloudcall said being able to provide services in the region would "significantly" strengthen its global footprint and leverage ongoing investment in its platform to service enterprise customers looking for a single global integrated communications provider.

The AIM-listed group said its operations in Australia would be led by Chris Apthorpe, who joined from Fuze. Cloudcall said his appointment was a key part of its "ambitious" plans for growth across the region and globally.

Chief executive Simon Cleaver said: "We're excited to take our leading integrated communications solutions into Australia as the cornerstone of our plans to provide our services across the wider APAC region in due course.

"Chris' background in the unified communications sector will help CloudCall deliver its exciting plans for growth, and he will be an asset in establishing a strong foothold for CloudCall in Australia."

As of 0850 GMT, Cloudcall shares were down 0.55% at 90p.
