Castings and engineering company Chamberlin announced the award of a “significant” new order for its Scunthorpe-based iron and steel casting foundry Russell Ductile Castings (RDC) on Tuesday.

The AIM-traded firm said the new order was for components used in the construction of a major, unnamed London-based infrastructure project.

It said the order value was £0.8m, and would be completed during 2022.

Production of the components was expected to start in February, with the board expecting RDC's fourth quarter performance to benefit from the increased revenues.

“This important order strengthens the company's order book for the current financial year and is a direct result of RDC's strategy to focus on its class leading manufacturing competency for large, complex castings and aggressively pursuing growth opportunities within the infrastructure, environmental and renewable energy markets,” the company said in its statement.

At 1523 GMT, shares in Chamberlin were up 0.59% at 7.67p.
