International market research agency Brainjuicer blamed strong currency headwinds for a limited growth in revenue in the first half of the year.

The company saw its revenue grow 4% to £11.2m in the six months ended 30 June, while revenue in constant currency terms was up 10%, though the company said currency movements helped to keep the costs flat.

Pre-tax profits rose 17% to £1.5m, while operating profits were up 18% at £1.5m and the interim dividend rose 11% to 1p per share.

"We've seen healthy growth in our Behavioural Science based 'Juicy' products reflecting continued underlying progress in our largest clients,” said group founder John Kearon.

“Growth overall would have been more significant were it not for a decline in our lower margin qualitative Juice Generation business which is particularly lumpy. Whilst, as always, we have limited revenue visibility, we believe we are on track to meet market profit expectations for the full year and continue to help our clients build famous brands."

Brainjuicer shares were down 0.12% to 431p at 10:42 on Friday.
