Africa-focussed explorer and developer Atlantic Lithium announced the appointment of chief executive officer Keith Muller and Patrick Brindle to its board.

The AIM-traded firm said the appointments were finalised after completing regulatory due diligence.

Muller assumed the role of CEO on 16 May, after joining Atlantic Lithium in November last year as its chief operating officer.

With more than 20 years of operational and leadership experience, the board said Muller was bringing a strong background in hard rock lithium mining and processing.

He previously held key positions such as business leader and general manager at Allkem, where he was involved in the operation of the Mt Cattlin lithium mine in Western Australia.

Prior to that, Muller served as operations manager and senior mining engineer at Simec.

Patrick Brindle, currently serving as executive vice-president and chief operating officer at Piedmont Lithium, would also join Atlantic Lithium's board as a non-executive director representing Piedmont.

Brindle had been with Piedmont since January 2018, holding various roles including vice-president of project management and chief development officer.

His previous experience included serving as vice-president of engineering for DRA Taggart, a subsidiary of DRA Global, an engineering firm specialising in mining and mineral processing projects worldwide.

Brindle possessed more than two decades of experience in senior management and engineering roles, having successfully completed EPC projects across the globe.

“The appointments of Keith Muller and Patrick Brindle add invaluable engineering and mine management experience to the Atlantic Lithium board, at a pivotal time for the advancement of the company's Ewoyaa lithium project in Ghana,” the board said in its statement.

At 1447 BST, shares in Atlantic Lithium were up 0.67% at 30.2p.
