Gold exploration and development company Ashanti Gold Corp has identified "broader" and "new" mineralised zones at Goldplat's Anumso Gold Project in Ghana, according to Goldplat.

The gold producer reported on Friday that the new mineralised zones, in which Ashanti has the right to potentially earn as much as 75% of Goldplat's interest by spending $3m on exploration work, are in "aggregate" 480m wide in certain areas of mineralisation, according to soil samples.

Approximately 1,200 samples, according to the company, indicated the presence of multiple zones of mineralised banket conglomerate.

The soil samples tested returned samples showing over 30 ppb gold (AU) with 24 samples containing over 100 ppb AU.

Having said that, results from initial metallurgical test work on oxidised and unoxidised mineralised samples were deemed "encouraging" as the company observed "strong gold recovery" by cyanidation.

Also, results from an initial Extended Gravity Recoverable Gold test conducted on unoxidised composite highlighted that up to 72.9% of gold could be recovered by gravity methods.

Ashanti also said it planned to conduct further work to "optimise" process conditions as well as to evaluate variability.
