Arkle Resources identifies new gold target at Inishowen

Irish gold and zinc exploration and development company Arkle Resources, formerly known as Connemara Mining Company, announced that a new gold target has been identified at its wholly-owned Inishowen Gold Project on Tuesday.

The AIM-traded firm said the “highly prospective” target was at the intersection between the newly-identified shear zone and the Glentogher fault.

It explained that the target lay between its Meeneragh gold discovery drill site, and the historic Glentogher Lead-Silver mine, with a combined strike length between the historic mine and the Meeneragh discovery site being five kilometres.

“We are pleased to report on progress and on a new target at Inishowen,” said Arkle’s chief executive officer, Patrick Cullen.

“Earlier this summer we made a decision to take a new approach and we have brought a fresh, but very experienced, set of eyes to the project.”

Cullen explained that the company’s drilling over the 2016-2017 season intersected high grade gold at Meeneragh, which established the Glentogher Fault as a fertile structure.

“We believe that the base metal mineralisation at Glentogher is related to the same fault.

“Our recent fieldwork has identified a previously unknown structure which intersects the Glentogher Fault three kilometres northwest of Meeneragh.

“This is now a priority target.”
