South America-focussed oil and gas producer and explorer Amerisur Resources provided an update of operations in Colombia on Monday.

The AIM-traded firm said the well Mariposa-1, in block CPO-5, had spudded and was drilling ahead.

“The well is expected to be drilled to 12,880ft measured depth in approximately 38 days,” Amerisur’s board confirmed in a statement.

“This well is operated by ONGC Videsh, [and] the company will provide a further update on completion of drilling operations.”

Amerisur said the well was targeting the Guadalupe and basal sands, with a secondary target in the Mirador formation.

Additionally, Platanillo-22 continued to drill ahead, currently at 7,460ft in the Rumiyaco formation, and the next prognosed horizon was the Villeta N sand, at 7,831ft.
