Active Energy's CoalSwitch gets thumbs-up from Utah Governor's Office

Biomass based renewable energy and forestry management company Active Energy has received a letter of support from the Governor's Office of Energy Development in Utah, it said on Friday, regarding Advanced Biomass Solutions’ plans for the ‘CoalSwitch’ plant.

The AIM-traded firm said the letter particularly focussed on Active Energy's intention to deliver product for commercial scale testing to power facilities in the state.

It said it also highlighted its support of ABS's activities, and that it was “looking forward” to the expansion of activities in Utah.

“If ABS' test is successful, [the Office of Energy Development] anticipates continued investment by installing a permanent plant in Utah,” the letter read.

“Such investment will add tremendous value to the State by generating new jobs, expand manufacturing, and support important industries like trucking, supply chain purchasing, and agriculture.

“Additionally, ABS' process promotes environmental stewardship through clean air initiatives and encourages new forms of renewable energy production.”

Active Energy non-executive chairman Michael Rowan said the board was “delighted” to receive the support from the Governor's Office in Utah, which he said reaffirmed the progress and potential for its CoalSwitch biomass fuel.

“The environmental credentials are being recognised across the board and we are extremely excited about the future, especially as we expect to deliver our first commercial quantities to partners, including Rocky Mountain Power, in the near future,” Rowan added.
