Internet-of-Things and software provider 21st Century Technology has been awarded a contract by East Sussex County Council as part of a new framework agreement.

21st Century will supply, install and support real-time passenger information technology and content management software for the council, which was working alongside Brighton & Hove City Council, West Sussex County Council and Surrey County Council to introduce a new content management system.

The councils chose 21st Century's new electronic passenger information software platform to provide their upgrade programme, which will also see the AIM-listed group extend and refresh the passenger information display capabilities throughout the wider region.

The three-year framework agreement comes with a customer option for a further 12-months extension through to July 2023.

Chief executive Russ Singleton said: "We are delighted to be working with East Sussex County Council to enhance the capabilities of their passenger information infrastructure throughout the wider region.

"This award also demonstrates our joint commitments to increasing sustainability through upcycling a number of existing displays from within their legacy estate."

As of 0935 BST, 21st Century shares had shot up 10.53% to 3.15p.
