21st Century Technology, which provides IT solutions to the transport sector, has won a £1m, five year contract from OFJ Connections Gatwick Airport to provide integrated real-time passenger information and connected bus systems.

The contract, which is due to start in the first half of 2017, will see the company provide high-definition CCTV, wi-fi, passenger information and media displays, automatic passenger counting and telematics solutions to OFJ's fleet of vehicles operating public and staff transit between car parks and the two airport terminals.

OFJ provides transportation services at Heathrow, Gatwick, London City and Southampton airports, and its airline customers include Virgin Atlantic, Malaysia, American, Emirates, Qatar, Aer Lingus.

The AIM-listed company will also install thin-film transistor displays to provide real-time arrival data to users of the services and two information displays at the terminal pick-up points

Chief executive Russ Singleton said: "This is the first example of 21st Century combining its fleet systems and passenger systems expertise in an innovative and cost effective way that drives real benefits to its operator customers as they in turn enhance the passenger travel experience for their customers. We are connecting systems, for connected journeys"

This contact win builds upon the two year contract extension the company gained from Arriva UK Bus, on 7 November to provide CCTV and IT systems.
