The Board of The Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust plc announces the retirement of Alexandra Mackesy with effect from today. The Board thanks her for the valuable contribution she has made to the Company and wish her well.

 

The Board also announces the appointment of Michelle Paisley as a non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 6 April 2020.

  

Michelle is a partner at global boutique advisory firm CC Strategic Partners focused on VC funds and early stage companies.  Prior to that she was Managing Director at MVision, a global third-party advisor to Private Equity Funds.  Michelle moved to Hong Kong in 2006 to head up Macquarie Securities' Hong Kong/China institutional equities business.  She led a 50-strong team of traders, salespeople and analysts across Hong Kong and Shanghai.  Michelle was a fund manager during the dot com boom with Bankers Trust.  She was a member of the team managing US$10bn in long-only, fundamental equity strategies.  She also ran a global natural resources fund.  Michelle started as an analyst at HSBC James Capel in London, before relocating to Australia with Citigroup in 1996.   She recently retired after 8 years on the board of The Women's Foundation, a leading Hong Kong non-profit, where she served as Treasurer, chair of the Finance & Audit Committee and co-chair of the Development Committee.  Michelle has an MA Hons in Psychology & French from St Andrews University.
