AFC Energy (AIM: AFC), the industrial fuel cell power company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Gerry Agnew as a non-executive director of the Company.

Dr. Agnew is joining AFC Energy as a non-executive director and is regarded as one of the world's leading experts in the field of fuel cell technology and systems following an esteemed career at both Rolls-Royce and LG Fuel Cell Systems Inc.  Before joining the Board of AFC Energy, Dr. Agnew served as Senior Fellow on the Rolls-Royce Council of Fellows, attending the Group Chief Technology Officer's Technology Strategy workshops with the Group CEO. 

 

Dr. Agnew spent seven years as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Technology Advisor to LG Fuel Cell Systems Inc and prior to this, Chief Technologist of Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems, Executive VP Engineering at Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems and Chief Engineer Fuel Cell Systems at Rolls-Royce.    

Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Agnew said "I first met AFC Energy many years ago, and have watched with interest the dramatic change and progression made by the Company over recent years, not only in its existing technology, but also in the development of its business models, key market applications and its new cutting edge high power density fuel cell power system.  The AFC Energy alkaline fuel cell affords many advantages compared to its peers in the market today and I very much look forward to working with the executive and scientific teams in taking the business forward to commercial success."   

Dr. Agnew will receive a percentage of his non-executive director's remuneration in share warrants, He will receive 900,000 warrants at an exercise price of 4.925 pence per share with the warrants vesting in three equal tranches over three years on each anniversary of his appointment as a non-executive director.

 

Lisa Jordan and Percy Hayball, both representatives of Ervington Investments Limited ("Ervington"), have decided to step down from the Board with immediate effect.  The decision to step down reflects the progress made by AFC Energy technically over the past few years following the ongoing support and contributions afforded to the Company by Ervington and its respective directors since its initial investment in 2012.     

John Rennocks, Chairman of AFC Energy, said: "We are delighted to welcome Gerry onto the Board of AFC Energy.  Gerry brings an extremely high caliber of commercial and technological acumen to the business and reflects the state of our Company that we can attract such talent.  I would also like to thank Lisa and Percy for their contributions in assisting the Company since their joining the Board in 2016 and 2018 respectively.  They both, alongside Ervington, have been, and continue to be, great supporters of AFC Energy and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

Pursuant to Schedule 2 (g) of the AIM Rules for Companies the following is disclosed in relation to Gerry Agnew.

Gerry Agnew, aged 55, is currently a director of GDA Scientific Ltd.
