Appointment of Non-Executive Director

Synthomer plc ('Synthomer' or 'the Company') today announces that it has appointed Holly Van Deursen as a Non-Executive Director. Holly will join the Board with immediate effect.

Holly has worked in the global chemicals industry for over 25 years, with senior positions across North America, Europe and Asia. She joined Dow Corning Corporation, a joint venture between the Dow Chemical Company and Corning Incorporated, in 1981 with roles in Process Engineering, Manufacturing and Product Development. In 1989 she moved to AMOCO, the global chemical and oil Company, where she worked across a number of different areas in the US, Hong Kong and the UK. She then spent 4 years at BP from 2001, latterly as Group Vice President, Petrochemicals.

In addition, Holly has 11 years' experience as a Non-Executive Director in the USA. .  She currently sits on the Board at Bemis Company (NYSE:BMS), Capstone Turbine Corporation (NASDAQ:CPST) and Actuant Corporation (NYSE:ATU). Holly was also on the board of Petroleum Geo Services (OSE) until earlier this year after serving for 12 years.

Holly has a Chemical Engineering Degree from the University of Kansas and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
