AUGUST 2019 TRAFFIC AND CO2 EMISSION STATISTICS

 

WIZZ AIR GROWS PASSENGER NUMBERS IN AUGUST BY 16% TO A RECORD 4 MILLION

 

LOAD FACTOR INCREASES BY 0.7PPTs TO 96.3%

Geneva, 3 September 2019: Wizz Air Holdings Plc ("Wizz Air"), the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today announces passenger and CO2 emission statistics for August 2019.

 

In August 2019, Wizz Air continued to grow its network and improve its customer offering as follows:

 

·      Route network expansion with the announcement of 23 new routes from/to: Ukraine (7x), Georgia (2x), United Kingdom (8x), Vienna (6x). These new routes also mark entry into three new markets: Edinburgh, London Southend and Odessa.

·      Fleet expansion with the delivery of two brand new Airbus 321neo aircraft and two brand new Airbus 321ceo aircraft, taking the fleet to 119 aircraft.

·      Base expansion with the allocation of two additional aircraft to Vienna, taking it to eight based aircraft, as well as one additional aircraft to Skopje, taking it to five based aircraft.

·      Wizz Air surpassed the 4 million monthly passenger mark for the first time.

·      Wizz Air continuously operates at the lowest CO2 emissions per passenger/km amongst all competitor airlines. CO2 emissions for the month of August were 2.1% lower than the same month last year, at 56.1 grams per passenger/km.
