ITM power announces approval of five hydrogen refuelling sites
Energy storage and clean fuel company, ITM Power, announced the approval of five hydrogen refuelling sites, on the Isle of White.
The company now has planning permission for an 80kg a day hydrogen refuelling station at four locations and a remaining station for a 15kg a day.
The energy group has chosen to take two of these sites to go through the installation process, in which the locations will be made hydrogen ready for operation in November 2014.
The installation process is part of the Eco Island Hydrogen Vehicle refueller project, supported by the UK's innovation agency, the Technology Strategy Board.
The company said that the approval process involved a liaison with stake holders including the Isle of White council.
The chosen sites included two, which were owned by Vestas; one being their R&D centres at Stag Lane and the other at Monks Brook.
Graham Cooley, Chief Executive Officer, said he was “delighted in gaining approval to commence the build of two hydrogen refuelling centres".
