Europe: Markets boosted by broker comments |

LONDON (SHARECAST) - European investors had a reason to be cheerful as broker comments, mining stocks and M&A activity gave the markets a boost.
Electrolux received a leg-up after the takeover of US rival Maytag by Whirlpool was approved by US regulators.
The German Dax is 22 points higher at 5,937 with the French CAC up 30 to 5210. The FTSE 100 is 36 points higher at 5,995 thanks mainly to miners, which received a boost after Kazakhmys' upbeat trading statement.
Positive broker statements saw Electricite de France and Banca Popolare di Verona e Novara push forward.
ThyssenKrupp rose after the Morgan Stanley upgraded its stock to 'equal-weight' form 'underweight', while Siemens jumped as Cheuvreux upgraded it to ‘outperform’ from 'underperform'.
Austria's Raiffeisen posted good early gains after it beat quarterly net profit forecasts.
