LONDON (SHARECAST) - Millbrook Scientific Instruments bounced off an all-time low today after the group said it has won five new orders valued at £400,000 which will be shipped before the end March.
The latest deals include the group's first sale to Australia where the University of Melbourne has purchased a NanoTest system for conducting advanced experiments at the nanoscale level.
The group has also bagged an order for the system from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, the first US order secured as a result of a new joint venture with MVA Scientific Consultants of Atlanta.
Other orders include those with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Institute of Chemical Engineering and High Temperature Chemical Processes, based in Greece.
A further MiniSIMS was delivered to Winnats Scientific Services in Derbyshire last week, added Millbrook.
Executive chairman Peter Stefanini said, “After a rather quiet period, during which the company issued a trading update, this is a welcome intake of new business.”
“Our success is driven by the growth of the global performance coatings market which has been estimated at $5bn.”
In February, Millbrook shares plunged after it warned that trading in the second half has been slower than expected.
“The conversion of some prospects to orders has suffered delays and the company does not now anticipate meeting market expectations for the year to March 2006,” it said.
