LONDON (SHARECAST) - Friday is generally a quiet day on the news front but this week is an exception with earnings from three blue chips scheduled to be released.
UK banks Lloyds TSB is expected to deliver weaker full-year profits– though attention will largely go on persistent bid rumours surrounding the group.
Shares in the group have bolted recently as speculation grows – with US lenders Wells Fargo and Bank of America and Spain's Banco Bilbao all cited as possible predators.
Having ruled out bids for Aegis last year and VNU only last month, traders will be keen to hear WPP’s growth strategy when it publishes full year figures on Friday.
At the third quarter results WPP said its full year operating margin remained in line with revised targets as it reported revenues up 26% during the period to Ł1.35bn.
Lastly British Energy is expected to report its third quarter figures on Friday morning and investors are hoping the group will unveil a bullish outlook with regards to the improved pricing environment.
