LONDON (SHARECAST) - Data search software provider Autonomy Corporation reversed early share price declines and is now higher following its 2009 figures.
Autonomy had already given the market a clear steer on the numbers so there were no surprises. Revenues for the twelve months ended 31 December totalled $739.7m, up 47% from $503.2m in 2008. Net profits increased to $232.8m from $148m previously, while full year pre-tax profits were up 55% at $323m.
Capitalised development costs increased from $11.2m to $24.7m.
The trading statement was positive and chief executive Dr Mike Lynch says that there were indications of improvement at the end of 2009 which has given the company confidence for 2010.
Pharma giant AstraZeneca is on the slide even though Panmure Gordon has issued a 20 page note with a buy recommendation. Worries about the litigation over the side effects of anti-psychotic drug Seroquel appear to be continuing to hamper the share price.
Thousands of people are said to be complaining that they were not told about the potential weight gain, risk of diabetes and hyperglycemia. The cost of the litigation could be more than $1bn.
Panmure Gordon has set a 3300p a share target price.
