LONDON (SHARECAST) - Director share buying is helping to push up the share price of identification services provider GBG Group. The shares have recovered from a low of 17.25p each following disappointing interim figures because the DataAuthentication division has been hit by lower volumes from two major clients.
Non-executive director Richard Linford acquired 100,000 shares at 19.5p each in the latest purchase. The previous day he bought 25,000 shares at 19.32p each. These purchases take his holding to 200,000 shares.
Another non-executive director, Alex Green, acquired 120,000 shares at 19p each in November, taking his holding to 250,000 shares.
On the day of the disappointing interim announcement, chief executive Richard Law acquired 152,450 shares, the boss of the DataSolutions business Nick Brown bought 203,250 shares and the John Lord, managing director of the DataAuthentication business which has been hit by lower volumes, acquired 101,600 shares. All the shares were acquired at 19.359p each.
GB Group’s interim figures showed a decline in interim profit from £521,000 to £341,000 in the six months to September 2009. House broker KBC Peel Hunt more than halved its 2009-10 profit forecast from £2.1m to £800,000.
Drug delivery device company Consort Medical reported flat revenues and lower profits in the six months to October 2009.
Reported profits fell by one-third to £5.2m due to the costs of changing manufacturing processes. Excluding those costs profits were 5% lower at £7.8m. The original Bespak business was hit by difficult markets.
Net debt was £17.9m at the end of September but since then Medical House has been bought for £16.8m in cash.
Medical House will help Bespak to grow by utilising its design expertise.
