TechMARK movers: Cautiously optimistic Dimension |

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Computer services provider Dimension Data is the best performer on TechMARK even though it reported lower interim profits. Management reports that its markets are stabilising but remains cautious.
Pre-tax profit fell to $183.79m in the year ended 30 September compared with $189.01m last time, while revenue was down at $4bn from £4.51bn previously.
Dimension Data anticipates that the market segments in which it operates will perform better in 2009-10. It also believes that it will be able to deliver modest constant currency revenue growth.’
Purchasing delays have hit human tissue supplier Asterand. The company says that customers are changing their buying patterns and this will affect fourth quarter revenues.
Revenues for the nine months to September 2009 were £9.1m, up from £8m in the same period last year.
There is still £5.2m in the bank. Cash has been used up in the period on court actions relating to operations with businesses in south east Asia.
Asterand is buying BioSeek, which has predictive human biology expertise, for an initial $1m. Up to $13m more could be payable in 2011 depending on revenue growth in 2010. BioSeek lost $4.1m on revenues of $3.2m in 2008.
San Francisco-based BioSeek uses human primary cell based disease models.
