LONDON (SHARECAST) - Majestic Wine, the Aim-listed wine retailer, has changed a major plank of its business strategy by reducing the minimum in-store purchase to six bottles from twelve.

The six bottle minimum purchase has been trialled in selected stores over the past year and customer feedback has been very positive, Majestic said. Reducing the minimum purchase makes Majestic even more accessible to both current and new customers, it added. The 12-bottle policy will remain for online sales.

Majestic recently reported that the credit crunch had hurt its previously impressive growth record with underlying profits in the year to March dipping to £12.7m from £16.4m the year before. Total sales increased by 2.4%
