LONDON (SHARECAST) - Online gamer Leisure & Gaming said trading has been in line with market expectations.
Net win for the half year to June was €12.8m versus €13.9m for the equivalent period in 2007. Gross profit for the period was €3.4m against €1.2m last time.
The group said it expects to have its full estate of Italian shops operating under new Bersani licences open by the start of the new football season.
It also expects to be able offer online poker throughout its retail network and to Italian online customers before the end of the year.
The group said it has raised £553,000 by a share placing, which will go towards obtaining an Italian online licence and to make further improvements to its operating platform.
“We are delighted to announce strong trading for the first six months of the year. Whilst some of our larger competitors have struggled in the Italian market, it is clear that our approach - benefiting from a localised product and local experience, backed up by a strong brand and distribution - is paying dividends,” said chief executive Henry Birch.
