FTSE 250 movers: Go-ahead tops risers after strong Q1 trading

Thu 18 Oct 2012

FTSE 250 movers: Go-ahead tops risers after strong Q1 trading LONDON (SHARECAST) - Transport group Go-Ahead rose after it said that trading in the first quarter has been strong as it announced a new ambitious target for profit growth in its bus division.

The company reckons bus operating profit should be £100m by 2015/16, compared with the £64-70m range over the past five years.

Cash and carry chain Booker gained after saying that like-for-like sales rose 3.1% for the 24 weeks to September 14th.

Meanwhile, fund manager Jupiter rose after reporting that assets under management increased from £23.37bn to £25.0bn in the three months to the end of September.

Man Group took a hit after Credit Suisse pointed out that net outflows during the third quarter were $2.2bn, against its expectations of $2.1bn. "We leave our target price unchanged at 94p and retain our Neutral rating. The shares are trading on an estimated 2013 fiscal year price-to-earnings multiple of 14.9-times which appears fully valued, in our view," the broker added.

Business published and events organiser UBM was also out of favour after missing revenue forecasts in the third quarter.

Jardine Lloyd Thompson was lower despite saying its overall trading performance is in line with expectations. The international group of risk specialists and employee benefits consultants did warn that trading conditions in developed European markets remain "challenging".

According to Bloomberg, the reason Capital & Counties Properties, the part owner of London’s Covent Garden Market, was in the red was because Simon Property Group has sold a stake in the company. UBS AG placed the 38.9m shares on behalf of Simon Property at 225p each, the media outlet said.
