LONDON (SHARECAST) - Mobile software developer, i-mate, announced today that it has signed mobile phone distributor Brightpoint to deliver its new Windows Mobile smart devices.

The move follows i-mate's expansion of its international team and the group said Brightpoint would be responsible for distribution and channel development in a number of key strategic European growth markets

“i-mate has an existing presence in the UK and Italy where it has sales operations in place and the deal with Brightpoint means that the whole of Western Europe is now covered both in terms of sales and customer support,” said the group.

“This step will bring us closer to our European customers and ensures more businesses and mobile operators become familiar with i-mate's products and services,” said i-mate global sales director Jack Craine.

The news comes as a welcome relief for i-mate after the shares nearly halved in value last month following news that of second half losses and slowing sales. The firm blamed supply problems and warned these would continue into the first quarter.
